Group Volunteer Opportunities

Whether it is kids helping kids through a school, troop or other community program, or grown-ups remembering their childhood and wanting to help provide positive experiences for others, there are a lot of ways to get your entire group involved with Camp AmeriKids! Two ways to have the greatest impact on our campers are:

Camper Bags

When our campers arrive, there is a special bag waiting for each of them on their bunk. An AmeriKids tradition, these include all the things they will need during their stay with us—things they may not have remembered, or been able to pack. We need groups who are able to commit to creating bags for at least one cabin (18 bags in total). Ideally, we would have groups of volunteers provide bags for all the boys or all the girls in a given session (75 bags).

For each camper we need:

There are many possible ways for your group to donate these camper bags. For instance you can advertise and host supply drives in your school, office or place of worship and collect the necessary items. Or perhaps you put together a fundraiser and use the proceeds to purchase the supplies. Either way, in the final stage you gather everyone together and assemble the bags. The best part is knowing that each thing you put in, will be taken out and enjoyed by a child this summer at camp.

Camp Site Project

In the summer of 2009, Camp AmeriKids moved to a new beautiful site! There is a lot to be done in order to prepare each year for the arrival of campers, and we would love to find a project that fits your group’s skills and interests. From work at the actual site in Warwick, NY like painting cabins and preparing program areas, to work that can be done anywhere like sewing cheery curtains and making colorful signs; there is definitely something for everyone who wants to help.
